Taking a dog or cat to Philippines from the UK
Travelling with your pet from the UK to the Philippines requires some preparation in advance. Your pet will need to meet the Philippines’ import requirements, obtain an SPS Import Clearance
(SPSIC) and travel with an Export Health Certificate, completed by an Official Veterinarian.
Follow the steps below to prepare your pet for travel.
Importing your dog or cat from the UK to the Philippines
1

Microchip & Vaccinations
Your pet must have an ISO-compatible microchip and valid rabies vaccination.
Dogs also require vaccinations against distemper, infectious hepatitis, parvovirus, parainfluenza and leptospirosis. Cats require panleukopenia, viral rhinotracheitis and calicivirus.
Required primary vaccinations should be completed at least 14 days before applying for the SPSIC.
2

Parasite Treatment
Your pet must be treated by a veterinarian against internal and external parasites. Treatment must be given between 7 and 91 days before applying for the SPSIC
3

Obtain Your Import Permit
Apply for an SPS Import Clearance (SPSIC) from the Philippine Bureau of Animal Industry.
Pets must generally be at least 120 days old when applying. The SPSIC is valid for 60 days, so time your application according to your travel date.
4

Export Health Certificate
Your pet will need an Export Health Certificate (2930EHC) completed by an Official Veterinarian.
Your pet must undergo a clinical examination within 72 hours of export, during which the OV will check your pet and supporting documentation before certifying the EHC.
5

Travel & Arrival
Travel with your approved SPSIC and original Export Health Certificate and present these to the Veterinary Quarantine Officer on arrival in the Philippines.
If your pet is travelling as cargo, you will also need the air waybill stamped by the airline.
Provided all documentation is complete and accepted, your pet can generally be released the same day.
